I may have done it again and put an idea in my head!

A member of another forum suggested a book to the members, and I may have said something to the effect that it may be worth me reading, if I have the time.

Well I may have the time. What do I do on weekends mainly; watch TV and play on the computer! The weather is getting nicer, so why not set up outside my apartment and read, or read by the pool!

I have books I can read; Christ The Lord--The Road to Cana, Hitman(Bret Hart's autobiography), or finish Divine Comedy.

I also plan on re-reading Four Agreements during my trip home. I kinda started it and let it sit, so I may just go back to 'square one'

One thing my recent little ordeal has taught me is how to adjust to changes. My plans for Memorial Day are the latest example.

My original plan was to use my flight privileges to fly to Memphis, TN and meet a fellow LJer. I had the Tuesday after Memorial Day off at FedEx Ground, and some helpful employees showed me how to use the system to get on the standby list.

When I get back to my apartment after spending the day with my Aunt, I find that my proposed host in Memphis had a guest already. So my response is what my usual response is to a shock like this; I walk around my apartment lamenting my lousy luck. I even suggested that I threw the $50 I needed to spend to activate my flight privileges out the window.

But then--I get an idea. Why not visit the family? So I leave a message on my Sister's FaceBook page asking if she'll be at her home in Dayton, Ohio. If that fails, I have a reservation on the system for a Harrisburg to Atlanta to Pittsburgh flight to visit my Parents. I may see about visiting my Brother and his family.

If that fails--I can always head to the ArtsFest and take pics:

Yesterday, I decided to cook up some fajita filling, complete with fresh chives from a plant I bought.

Some of the results can be seen here.

Out of all of your favorite books, pick just one you'd recommend everyone read. As a bonus: why did you pick that one?

Be warned--this is a bit of "Deep Reading".
But to understand a lot of what's going on the world, read a book called Blowback, by Chalmers Johnson.

When my younger sister asked me if I wanted her laptop, and I accepted, the idea was to be able to use the laptop to access the 'Net wirelessly.

I managed to purchase a wireless card and was amazed to find that a fellow tenant had an unsecure wireless network. That lasted until a bit after Thanksgiving, and I decided to see about getting a wireless router for myself. My younger sister was glad to get me one as a present, it was kinda a Valentines gift.

I found that I would need a NIC card to connect the router to the network, which I managed to connect yesterday morning. It seemed to work, until I installed a network management program. The computer could connect to the network, but I couldn't get any browser to open!

After some thought, and playing with the firewalls, I realized that the problem may be the management program.

I was right, when I uninstalled the program, I could connect the laptop wirelessly to my network. I'm actually making this post from my Dining Table!

I had a job interview today at a local Amusement Park. The idea was to look at picking up a few hours on the weekends after I get done working at my job at the airport; which, after things seeming to get a bit "dicey", looks like I may be in it for the longer haul.

Not to be, for now. Seems that my job at the Airport makes it hard for them to fit me in at the park. I'm trying not to make this a total wash though; I told the lady, who seemed interested in having me work there, that if my shift changes in the future that I'll give her a call.

But I'm realizing that three jobs, as much as I could use the money, may be a bit of a reach. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna try though!

It's the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. What season do you want it to be where you live?

Actually for me this is an "either/or" proposition.
I like both seasons.

Another case of my brain being 3 steps ahead of itself.
I'm still working on that modified C# Database program, using MySql instead of SQLServer, and was ready to work on a way to add new records to the database. I had started the work the day before on the code and yesterday, after a cuppa coffee, sit down to try and see if it works.
The code compiles and runs, but when I click the button to access the database, I get a "variable null" exception.
"Ok, we have a bug in the code", I think and I set to debugging--and find out that I hadn't written the code yet to get the data out of the input form and into the program.
DUH!
With that done, I managed to get that block to work. Now I need to implement the delete functionality, and then basically start over again using another way of accessing the database.

One lesson I'm learning from my attempts to learn C# is "Persistence Pays". I finally managed to get the section of the database program I've been working on to do what I want it to--sorta.

I was kinda using an out-of-date tutorial:(

So I get back to moving forward (though the next section may have me needing to take a break and learn some advanced MySql first).

I also hope this week to update my resume(s) a bit.

Yesterday, after I got off of work at the Airport, I went to the Barnes and Nobel just to kinda "scout around", and I picked up a book I saw on--Backgammon?

I used to play this on the computers at college as a way to work through "coders block" and it would give me something to do to keep my mind limber. Whether I'd be playing a CPU or hopping on-line to play a person. There also may be a local club that I could join, once I get my weekends freed.

I put a "getting started" book on my list at the local library, and I'm sure that the "Dollar Store" has boards or a travel edition that I could use to follow along.

Just another crazy idea of mine I guess.
