I just got an e-mail that a haiku I wrote might be published on one of the larger erotica sites!

Not bad for something that was inspired by rain falling on my car window.

It is hot here in the Harrisburg area, and this heat gave me an opportunity to finally test a "River Tube" on one of the creeks that feeds into the Susquehanna River.

It actually began as a hike, as I needed to walk to a small park that I ended up putting in to. I floated along seeing swans, ducks, and geese. I encountered a few children trying to beat the heat in the creek, and even managed to remember to keep my feet pointed downstream to get through a few rough spots.

I also needed to stop twice along the way to re-inflate the tube.

Maybe the next time I do this, I'll have a way to take pictures.

I'm glad to be back, though it seems that few of my old friends here are active.
But it looks like I'm not alone in re-activating myself, but it looks my fear of being "Spammed" may have cost me an old LJ friend with a new name.

If you're able to read this, you know who you are. Please re-send me a request and I will friend you.

(Unless someone stole her e-mail after all)

When you spend two and a half years away from a site, especially in the ever-changing world of Social Networking, there's bound to be dust that collects.

So, sometime in the next few weeks, I'm gonna clean house here. Any person who has not posted, or group that has not had an update, in a year is going to be deleted. If I can trace folks to FB, etc, I may do that.

One day at work, another agent remarked he had to help a customer connect their treadmill to the network. While the agent was unable to assist the customer, it got me to thinking about what other odd devices an agent could unwittingly support.

"Thank you for contacting the high-speed help desk. My name in Angelo, how may I help you,” said the voice on the phone.

“I need some help connecting a wireless device.” The woman on the other end was surprised to hear clear, unaccented, English.

Angelo verified the caller's information, determined what type of modem she had and explained what needed to be done.

“So all I need to do in enter the security key from the bottom of the modem and the device should connect.”

“Yes,” Angelo said. He wondered what she was trying to connect; a treadmill, maybe a running shoe. “I'll stay on the line until we verify that everything is set up.”

She input the code, and watched as the device plugged into the USB port blinked green. “Thank you very much,” she said.

“You may be receiving a survey about this call. I hope I've satisfied you; thank you and have a nice day.”

She unplugged the device, which looked like a tongue with a flashlight handle, from the computer and thought to herself, “You have helped greatly”

When last you saw me, it was 2009. I was working at the Airport and at FedEx Ground. Things have taken turns both for the better and for the worse.

I had to file bankruptcy--pro se, no attorney to help me. I managed to get that discharged and get a lot of the debt that was hanging over my head out of the way.

In January and February of 2011, I managed to lose both my jobs. One for alleged insubordination, the other likely the result of treachery. I actually had an offer to head back to my family's home in Northwestern PA, that I did the unthinkable and refused.

So, where's the "for the better" part? I managed to regroup and rally. I found a contact job at a warehouse, then at a candy factory. During a brief break between these two jobs, I interviewed for, and got a contract-to hire job supporting High-Speed Internet customers. In February, I was brought on as a full-time, permanent employee!

I'm also now part of an erotica writers mailing list, and have made a few submissions.

On other notes, I've become an ally of the local "Occupation".

So that's my attempt to "get current"

If you could hang out with any movie character for a day, whom would you choose as your sidekick?

I don't know how well he'd take to having a sidekick for a day, but I think Brandon Lee's Eric Draven would be interesting to spend a day with.

my capture by ninja, etc have been exaggerated.
I just needed to get some stuff in order, part of which will include pruning my social networks a bit. I do think LJ has a place in this, so I'm staying on.

I will try and 'prune' my friends list down a bit though.
